Terms of Service

What Hello Generalist is

Hello Generalist is a curated marketplace that connects early-stage founders and companies (“hirers”) with senior fractional operators (“operators”). We facilitate introductions and matches between members. We are not an employer, staffing agency, or party to the working relationships that members form with each other.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. Access to the marketplace is curated — we may accept, decline, or revoke membership at our discretion.

Your account

• Provide accurate information when you register, and keep it current.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. If you sign in with Google, you are also bound by Google’s terms for that service.
• Notify us promptly at hello@hellogeneralist.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

Your content

You retain ownership of the content you submit — your profile, company details, role posts, and other materials (“Content”). You grant Hello Generalist a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute your Content solely to operate and promote the Service, including displaying it to the members for whom it is relevant and, where you have opted in, on a public profile page.

You represent that you have the rights to the Content you submit and that it is accurate and not misleading. You can edit or remove most Content at any time through the Service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Misrepresent your identity, experience, affiliation, or the opportunities you post.
• Use the Service to harass, discriminate against, or harm others.
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export member data, or use the Service to build a competing database.
• Circumvent access controls, probe our security, or disrupt the Service.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

Engagements between members

These Terms cover your use of the website and platform only. Any actual engagement between an operator and a hirer — including scope of work, deliverables, rates, fees, invoicing, confidentiality, and intellectual property — is governed by whatever separate agreement those parties (and, where applicable, Hello Generalist) enter into for that engagement. Nothing in these Terms creates, replaces, or modifies those commercial arrangements.

Hello Generalist does not guarantee any match, placement, engagement, or outcome. We do not employ operators and are not responsible for the performance, conduct, or work product of any member.

Authorized agents

You may authorize an AI agent to act on your behalf through an interface we provide. You remain responsible for all actions taken under your account, including those taken by an agent you authorize.

Our intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, and the Hello Generalist name and marks — is owned by Hello Generalist Inc and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you no right to use our marks without our prior written permission.

Third-party services

The Service links to and relies on third-party services (for example Google sign-in, and forms or newsletters hosted by third parties). We are not responsible for the content or practices of those services, which are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will survive.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hello Generalist Inc and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hello Generalist Inc from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or of any rights of another.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and Hello Generalist agree that the state and federal courts located in California will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
